a childhood memory

Solly Woo

suddenly, coming to your senses

this city revives our bodies,
ora reaching to the bone.

we passed shrubs of azaleas
as we wait for everyone to
arrive at night.

and when we reached the end,
dimly lit shadows beside the
road of trees.

sitting in your passenger seat,
you told me, that all of last summer,
we had wanted to visit the beach
in August -- the waves, moss-like

but there was no time on our hands,
even with the red days
even with the waiting rooms
the wick slowly being blown out
by the open wind.

and when we drove down the
tunnel, i turned on the radio

on the other side, we are in a dollhouse
green-pink striped wallpaper
a miniature pink desk,
a purple rug on the 1st floor.

look, no one has lived here yet
there are no plastic shoes,
no bright costumes,
no pretend dishes to cook.

and in this moment, we are just outlines,
soft yarn strings, not yet created.

my pink chime of hope
spinning around endlessly
